University of Calabria students are invited to participate in the 26th International Symposium on Methodologies for Intelligent Systems (ISMIS) organized as hybrid event (both remote and in-person) on October 3rd-5th, 2022.
ISMIS is an established and prestigious conference for exchanging the latest research results in building intelligent systems. It provides a basis for exchanging research results and transferring scientific achievements towards industrial applications. The scope of ISMIS is to present a wide range of topics related to the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques related to areas such as decision support, knowledge representation, logical programming, knowledge-based systems, machine learning, planning, computer vision, information retrieval, configuration and diagnosis. The conference also focuses on interdisciplinary research in AI-related fields, for example, decision support systems and human decision making or recommender systems and human personality, and knowledge-based systems development and cognitive aspects of knowledge understanding.
The purpose of this call is to provide a meeting a place between students, researchers and industry, supporting the communication and the sharing of knowledge, aiming at enabling possibilities of future collaboration.
For these reasons, we offer the students the possibility of discuss, during the ISMIS event, about any idea developed during their thesis work or any educational experience.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Explainable AI (XAI)
- Machine Learning
- Deep learning
- Data Mining
- Recommender Systems
- Constraint-based systems
- Autonomous systems
- Applications (Configuration, Internet of Things, Financial Services, e-Health…)
- Intelligent user interfaces
- User Modeling
- Human computation
- Causality and Machine Learning
- Ethics and AI
- Socially-aware systems
- Digital libraries
- Intelligent Agents
- Information Retrieval
- Natural Language Processing
- Knowledge Integration
- Knowledge Visualization
- Knowledge Representation
- Soft Computing
- Web & Text Mining
Students are invited to submit original proposals and/or their thesis work. As a guideline, we recommend structuring the submission highlighting the problem statement, their solution and the related impacts and advantages.
Proposals should be prepared as:
- A short extended abstract (max. 3 pages) in English explaining the idea underlying the proposal
- A ten-minutes long presentation in English to show during the ISMIS event
Proposals should be submitted in PDF form via sending an email to ismis2022@icar.cnr.it with the following information:
- First/Last Name
- University
- University ID number
- Title of the work
The Submission deadline is September the 26th. After an evaluation phase, whose notification will be on September the 30th, best proposals will be invited to present at the conference on October the 5th. A monetary prize will be awarded for the best works.
